But it definitely was embarrassing. I’m referring to my experience at the mall yesterday. To tell you the whole story, this is what happened. I went to see my doctor and dropped by at the nearby drug store after to buy myself a moisturizer – the same moisturizer that I’ve been using for months. Since I was using a tote bag, I put it inside and headed straight to the mall. My first stop was the department store to buy Yogi some new clothes. I totally forgot about the moisturizer inside my bag that I should have supposedly left at the baggage counter. There was no detector on the way in and the guard didn't check my bag. Guess what happened next?
When I passed the detector on my way out of the department store, it beeped. I heard it of course but I didn’t realize it was me until the guard called my attention. They asked for my things and checked it. I didn’t feel nervous at all but the moment I realized that all the people around us were watching us or me for that matter, my hands started to get cold and tremble. I wasn’t guilty of course but having that attention and thinking that people might think I stole something is really embarrassing. When they saw the moisturizer, they figured then that the moisturizer’s bar code was the reason why the detector beeped.
The guard told me that I should have removed the bar code. Hey! How should I know? I didn’t know about that? I actually told the guard to remove it himself. I was already pissed that time. And while we were talking, this lady whom I’ve noticed had been staring at me from a distance went near us and told the guard to let me go. I figured she’s the guards’ supervisor. She told me that next time, I should never forget to leave everything that I bought outside to the baggage counter.
But in fairness, they were never rude and I know they were just doing their duties. I was just pissed with the other guard who has been telling me to remove the bar code over and over again. Oh well, what an experience! Lesson learned for Lynndee, huh?! (“,)
